    Dear Mr. Malik,

Brands like Da Milano have a market in India these days coz, Indians are as much globe trotters as any other. We expect superior quality when we purchase goods from a store like Da Milano.

I had purchased a bag and a pair of shoes some time back. In hardly a month’s time, the sole came off. I brought it to the store. They were very sweet and offered to repair it for me. When i came back to pick it up, i was shocked. A cobbler on the Mumbai streets would have done a far better job. The shoddiness of the ‘repair’ was the least of the problems. The sole was merely re stuck with gum. It came off in my hands inside the store. I returned the shoes.

Mr. Malik, you were right when u said the fashion conscious consumer has matured and we know exactly what we are looking for apart from style and comfort. please do not dump internationally unacceptable goods in India. We Indians banned Tommy Hilfiger, we can ban you too!!

    Dear Preeti,
we would be very grateful if you could send us your contact number, at marketing@damilano.com
It is upsetting for us to see a customer unhappy with the brand.

    Regards,
    Padmaja

    Dear malik,
I had exacly as bitter experience like MS Preeti above. You are really underestimating the indian customer quality consciousness. As above mail says you are trying to dump internationally unaacetable goods in India, at international prices. That is pure exploitation of indian consumer, and I can pick up a very nice hand bag in any international airport for the price we pay for your bags , and I dont have to worry about the poor quality standards.

I have bought a hand bag in your store , and the mobile phone pocket had no stiching on one side. When I first walked into your store, I had trust in the name Da Milano, as I believed you maintain international quality. and did not inspect the bag as much. Later after a month or so I noticed the pocket had one stitch missing. The leather outside did not have proper finish in couple of places. The store person must have put some black shoe polish at the time of sale as when I pointed at the time of purchase, he said it was only a stain and he went inside and came back in few minutes probaly covered it up with shoe polish.

I went back to store later , and showed them these two defects and they said it will be repaired properly and enclosed a note with the complaints .

When I got the hand bag back after a month, ( they said their work shop was closed , and the area manager also had very poor careless attitude, as he was confident that the customer cant do anything, and he refused to give any other contact numbers at first, and later when we insisted he gave a number that was not working. When I called him again to explain this, he did not come to the phone and told his sales girl to tell me that he was not there. He did not give any numbers of your head office, and said there is not much they can do or we can do. That was the appaling attitude. Same thing if it happens outside India they would not try to justify it , and evade phone calls, but would repair it in a professional way and would apologise to the customer for the inconvenience caused.

Any way when I got the bag after i month, to my utter shock it was all crushed at the bottom, as they did not stuff it in the transport. and probaly tried saving money on transport by dumping all the bags into a small container. The bottom lost its original finish, and shape, and wherever the leather finish was missing, the finish was not restored either. All I got was one stitch at the mobile pocket and the shape of the hand bag got completely spoiled at the bottom, and it looked cheap. I could have got this repaired in one day by a local cobbler, and my bag would not have been crushed so hopelessly. I refused to take the bag and left it in the store, they probaly would send it to a local cobbler and ruin the bag further.

Mr Malik, giving interviews in magazines talking about your quality and saying you carry impeccable leather products should reflect the realities, by instructing your entire team to maintain high quality standards, and ensure they all go through good CRM training. Other wise few customers on the internet like this , and locally can damge the impressions about the company and its standards a lot more faster than you can imagine. Probably on the day I went to pick up my bag from your store , you might have lost few probable customers. So let your team be aware that it is not selling one bag, but retaining the brand value that is more critical for your sales.

I hope they repair bag in a way that it regains its original shape and looks, and finish.. Otherwise it would be an interesting story to the business magazines that you were interviewed by to show along with pictures how hard it is to maintain quality standards the businesses claim. Please do not undervalue or undermine your customer and their grievances, and consumers these days expect good quality standards and service when they pay a price, and would not want their bags to look cheap after couple of months usage. Gone are the days they keep quite when their grievance yield no satisfying results.

The bag is still sitting in your shop and I dont have any trust in the team there or the area manager incharge that it wont be sent to a local cobbler and return with a shoddy job. Please ensure that your front end team is as quality conscious as you claim your company is conscious about.

I have decided to buy a portfolio bag from your store in Mumbai. but after reading the comment made above, i feel to have a second thought. we Indians dont just buy things but we have values attached to it. after paying a hefty amount for the brand name and quality and if it does not perform as promised it will be really painful. is the company really concious about their given promise of quality and service or it is just another selling tip.
