thomas_cookTravel Agents Association of India (TAAI), spearheading the travel agents fraternity’s cause to abolish the “ Zero Commission “ regime has found support from MNC Travel Companies – Thomas Cook and Cox & Kings and other consolidators and tour operators.

At a recently held meeting Rajji Rai, President – TAAI apprised the travel and tour operators community on the initiatives taken in the fight against the illegal, customer-unfriendly, and livelihood-robbing Zero Commission regime.  Madhavan Menon – Thomas Cook,  Suresh Makhija – Carlson Wagonlit,  Karan Anand – Cox & Kings, Ajay Bali – BCD Travels,  P. Srinivasan from Kuoni Tours, Sudhir Patil from Kesari Tours who were present in the meeting had unanimously agreed to support the cause of the travel trade fraternity. They also agreed to meet the representatives from Singapore Airlines at a neutral location on behalf of the fraternity.

Madhavan Menon, Managing Director, Thomas Cook (India) in a written letter of support stated that, “Thomas Cook would support TAAI in all its efforts to ensure a fair and legitimate remuneration for all travel agents. We subscribe fully to the belief that travel agents perform vital services for the airlines and must be fairly compensated for their efforts by the Airlines.’’

Reacting to the support extended by major players in the industry, Rajji Rai said, “we are in continuous dialogue with the airlines to revert to the older regime of commission. We are hopeful that the airlines will oblige and honor their commitments. It is in the hands of the airlines to restore normalcy to the business and to the customer. The increasing support we are receiving across will only strengthen and consolidate our stand against the unfair Zero Commission”.
